Why surf in Portugal?

Portugal has quietly become one of the world's great surf destinations. With consistent Atlantic swell hitting from September to March, a World Surf Reserve on the Ericeira coastline, and Supertubos at Peniche ranking among Europe's best barrels, the country punches well above its weight. Better still, it's genuinely accessible — English is widely spoken, flights from most of Europe are under three hours, and the combination of good food, low costs, and warm culture makes it the easiest place in the world to base a surf trip.
